A hike in the region Midi-Pyrénées

Larressingle, in Gers Department, is a beautiful medieval town built at the top of a hill. In this hike, you will walk on the tracks which surround the fortified village, and you will enjoy the landscape of this place, its thousand colours blended with natural fragrances...


1- In front of the medieval war machines, go to the road on your right. Pass a road on your right and go straight 200 metres.
2- Take the right path, below the inn. Walk past a pond. Continue on this way, which goes along meadows, up to find a road.
3- Turn to the right, then turn to the left. Continue up to a bend.
4- Take the right path and rise up to the tarred track.
5- Continue up to the next crossing.
6- Take the path opposite, slightly on your left, and walk 250 metres, up to a fence. Take the right track and continue up to the farm of Cahuzac.
7- Turn to the right. At Larressingle, take the right street and just after the left street. You are getting back to the starting point.

Noteworthy places

Larressingle. The village of Larressingle is really a Middle-Age gem. It is the smallest village fortified in France, thereby the French phrase "petite Carcassonne du Gers". Its church was built in the XIIth - XIIIth centuries in the honor of Saint Sigismond. This church has the peculiarity to have two naves.
A military medieval camp is presented at the entrance of the city. It displays the war machines that were used to besiege a city.
Panorama. The hilly landscape that one can observe in Gers Department draws its origin from geologic events, and particularly the erection of Pyrenees.
