A hike in the region Midi-Pyrénées

A stroll to discovering of a small village including a splendid church of the Middle Ages, crossing point of the pilgrims of Santiago de Compostela. An excursion on the small valleys of the Lot, to discover its relief and its beauty.


1- From the place of the city hall, in front of the war memorial, take the road D556E towards Bessuéjouls, by following Astruges brook on your left-hand side.
2- Cross the small bridge, follow the road on your right-hand side, walk past a farm, take the road in front of you.
3- Continue the ascent through pastures and then in a forest of chestnut trees up to the farm of Bax.
4- Take the road up to D108. At the crossing, take the way on your left-hand side on 100m and turn to the left on a dirt track.
5- Go down up to Roumes.
6- Take on your right-hand side, go down on the road situated on your left-hand side which joins D556, turn to the left on the secondary road (D556) up to the crucifix.
7- Turn to the left to come back to Saint Pierre.

Eglise de Saint-Pierre. The church was altered in XVI century, but its construction dates from XI-XII century. The Romanesque bell-tower is remarkable since it embodies a high vault, which makes a rarity (although this arrangement was very frequent at Carolingian period).
