A hike in the region Midi-Pyrénées

From the beautiful volcanic stone-built village of Graissac, a stroll between the vast plateau of Aubrac and Carladez. Limit between Aveyron and Auvergne, offering magnificent panoramas and luxurious colours.

1- At the Café de la Place, take the road D70 on your right-hand side, up to la croix du moulin.
2- At the crucifix take the track on your left, come down. In the intersection of several tracks, take the one straight ahead up to La Vayssière.
3- Turn on the left, go up to D900.
4- Take the road D900 on your right-hand side, cross the hamlet of Labarthe.
5- At the beginning of the bend, at the level with a small quarry, take the track on your left. At the crossroad of tracks, take the track on your left it will lead you to Le Batut.
6- Take to the left, cross the hamlet. At the intersection of two roads, take the one on your right-hand side.
7- Continue on the track towards the road D233.
8- Take D233 on your right-hand side, throught the hamlet of Combrie. Pass Saintignac and go up to reach a little wood.
9- Take the wide track on your left, continue up to the road D70.
10- Arrived at the D70, turn to the left in the direction of the hamlet La Croix-Rouge. At the crossing with D900, join the track in front of you.
11- Take the track, at the intersection of the tracks continue quite straight ahead on a small sunken lane.
12-Arrived on D70, take to the right to join the village of Graissac. At the level with the laundry turn to the right, raise and turn to the right and join the place of the church. Take the small road on the right side of the church which will drive you to the point of departure.

Noteworthy places

Le plomb du Cantal. The highest summit of the mountains of Cantal, it reaches 1855 metres. It is the center of an immense volcano which in its largest diameter is about 80 kilometres lenght. Deep valleys with a glacial origin radiate out from its center.

L'église de Graissac. Basalt church of Romanesque/Gothic epoch with gargoyles on the bell tower.
