A hike in the region Midi-Pyrénées

The medieval village of Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt was the lordship of the Counts of Rouergue. It is registered as one of the Most beautiful Villages in France (Plus Beaux Villages de France). You will discover the charm of this beautiful place, its Romanesque church and, from the village of Pierrefiche, several views over the Lot valley and the plateau of Aubrac.

1- Opposite the church, go to right and take the first street on your right. Turn to the left in the street of Traverse and go up to the end of the street. Turn to the right, and continue on the same road which turns to the left. At the first intersection, turn to the right.
2- Turn to the right in the street "rue des Avabres", then continue on the track up to the road.
3- Cross the road to go to the track opposite. Continue up to a crossroads.
4- Take the left path which winds up. Continue on this path, passing two paths on your left.
5- As the track becomes tarred, take the path on your right which goes down and continue up to the road.

Eglise de Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt. The church was rebuilt in the XIth century and fortified in the XIIth century. Because of its chevet, it is considered as a masterpiece of the Romanesque art. It is also famous for its relics, such as two thorns of Christ's crown preserved in a classified gilded wooden reliquary representing Ecce Homo.
Château des Curières de Castelnau. The castle was built in the XVth century on the vestiges of the large stables of the former medieval castle.
Hôtel de la Renaissance. Hotel built in the XVIth century. It has a spiral staircase in the corner tower which gives access to three floors.
Eglise Saint-Pierre de Pierrefiche. This XIIth century church was partially rebuilt in the XIXth century in a neo-Romanesque style (this is specially the case for the bell tower).
