A hike in the region Alsace

The vineyard path ("Sentier viticole" in French) will lead you to discover the wine and the vineyard of Eguisheim, in detail and in an unusual way. With the help of explanatory panels distributed along the route, you will get to know the 7 Alsatian types of vines. Some others panels present the work of wine growers. You will discover two great wines, Eichberg and Pfersigberg, with their relative geology and sun aspect of the vineyard. You will also enjoy the landscape, as the view of Eguisheim, Trois-Château, and vineyards.

1- At the explanatory panel of the vineyard path (near the campsite), take the road in front of you and go up to the crossing with the Wine Road (Route des Vins - D14).
2- Cross the road and take the path going to the left. Reach the track and go to the right. At the intersection with the concreted road, go to the right, and again to the right.
3- A few meters further, take a grassy path on your right. Continue through vineyards. You will find an intersection with the Wine Road (road D14).
4- Cross the road and take the track in front of you. At the first crossing, turn to the right, at the second, to the left. At the intersection, continue straight ahead, then turn to the right. At the end of this track, you will find a downward tarred section.
5- Turn to the right while going down.
6- Take the grassy path on your right, and continue up to a tarred track.
7- Turn to the left and continue up to the next crossroads. Once again turn to the left, and get back to the starting point.

Eguisheim. The village was designed as a series of concentric circles around an old feudal castle. The half-timbered houses are very colored and decorated with flowers. This is the native village of the Pope Leon IX.
Le Eichberg. Wines from this land are famous for their sharpness and fruity.
L’église Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul. This church was built in the place of a former Romanesque basilica from which they remain only a tower and a XIIIth century Romanesque door decorated with a remarkable tympanum.
Le Pfersigberg. This terroir was already well-known in the XVIth century. Wines of Pfersigberg, notably Gewurztraminer, are famous for their body, fruity and longevity.
